sorry girls the draw was delayed yesterday by me dropping a tool box of merv's onto my bad foot...let me tell you that was not a good idea!!! i have a big fat bruised foot now and i am not happy jan!!! oh well i guess if i can convince someone around this house to give a s..t then i might get some reading and rest time out of it all...bad way to do it but i might be lucky???? anyway i threw author names from our list into a bowl then once i had the author i drew out a book title....so our book this month is........morrigan's cross by Nora Roberts (it is actually the first book in Nora's circle trilogy)
i have a blurb i tracked down for you below...i know for some of you this will be a very different genre but give it a go...i think we will all enjoy this one...
Nora Roberts is trully a fantastic writer who manages to write in so many different styles...i have become a huge fan!!! .....i will hopefully have this book by next weekend as i actually have it on layby and i'm going to work on the hubby to get it off for me..hehehe...worth a try hey? so any of the local girls who need to can borrow it from me.....so now the blurb....
Morrigan's Cross
Standing on the cliffs of 12th century Ireland following the disappearance of his twin, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is visited by the goddess Morrigan and is charged with the ultimate of tasks: saving his and all future worlds. His enemy - the beautiful but deadly vampire queen Lilith - has had over two thousand years' experience in cruelly killing and changing humans into her own kind - including Hoyt's brother, Cian. Now, Hoyt, a sorcerer, must travel across the world and through time to find and train the five others Morrigan has prophesised will join him as a circle and do battle against Lilith's army of vampires on Samhain in the land of Geall. Fate brings him first to Glenna Ward - a modern witch who can make her own kind of magic. Hoyt and Glenna find themselves drawn together, but is their love strong enough to survive not just the battle ahead but the centuries that separate them...? Morrigan's Cross is part of The Circle Trilogy, Nora Roberts' magical new series of paranormal romances. Six strangers - a sorcerer, a witch, a shape-shifter, scholar, warrior and vampire - find danger, friendship and the chance of love, as they unite in a battle against an ancient evil...

Charlie St Cloud!
here is what the gorgeous Nes thinks of the book " the life and death of Charlie st Cloud"
MY THOUGHTS ON CHARLIE ST CLOUD
A really great read...Ben Sherwood writes in such a way that you get lost in all the mystery and emotion. You feel like you're right there beside Charlie as he goes from day to day. I did really enjoy this book...it's a little out of my usual genre, but I enjoyed it all the same. Now I can't wait for the movie...see how they adapt it to the big screen....which by the way is being filmed now, due for release in 2010...and stars Zac Efron...hehehe!!
so come on girls who else has read it???? and what did you think??
i will be posting the next book this afternoon after i do a random draw for the author and then title!

charlie St cloud
i finally have a copy of the book from april " the death and life of charlie st cloud" ...what a bargain too...when i ordered the book i was told it would be about $20-$25...so i get there yesterday with my $5 off voucher ready to pay the rest and wow it was marked down to $4.99...so it cost me nothing!!! woohoo my way to shop...hahahhaa....
anyway here is the blurb from the back of the book for those of you who haven't been able to read it yet:
" when he was a boy, Charlie St cloud almost perished in a car crash that that killed his little brother, Sam. Years later, charlie is still trying to atone for his loss. It is only when he meets Tess Carroll, a captivating, adventurous yachtswoman, that he is faced with a choice - between death and life, the past and the present, holding on and letting go. the death and life of charlie st cloud is a romantic and exhilarating novel about second chances and the liberating power of love."
sounds good looking forward to starting it but as i have started this months book " my memory keepers daughter" i had better be a good girl and finish that first...hahahaha...

Dawns pick!!
ok time for dawn's pick for the book club for May........i know some of us are still waiting for charlie but in the meantime maybe you can read this then backtrack to charlie....
so for may lets read " MY MEMORY KEEPERS DAUGHTER" BY KIM EDWARDS
here is the blurb from the book cover for you:
this stunning novel begins on a winters night in 1964, when a blizzard forces Dr David henry to deliver his own twins. His son, first born, is perfectly healthy, but the doctor immediately recognises that his daughter has Down Syndrome. For motives he tells himself are good, he makes a split second decision that will haunt all their lives forever. he asks his nurse, caroline, to take the baby away to an institution. Instead, she disappears into another city to raise the child as her own.
Compulsively readable and deeply moving, " the memory keepers daughter" is a brilliantly crafted story of parallel lives, familial secrets, and the redemptive power of love...

harvesting the heart!
julie's say:
well i loved it...i might just be a jodi picoult fan now.....i did struggle a little at first when not only did she alternate from person to person but past to present with in each person as well...was probably just me and my lack of brain cells....hahaha....but when you get a little further into it and it just goes from paige to nicholas i was hooked and just had to find out what was going to happen...you could never predict a single thing....i loved that!!!! you would think that maybe a certain thing was going to happen then bam she would hit you with something completely different.......i wanted to have that happy ending though...would have like to have been 100% sure that max was ok and that they were going to be back at it soon...in my own little version i like to believe that they do all get that happy ending they all so deserve!!!
Nes's say.........
What a brilliant writer. She keeps you hanging on all the way. I was a little sad with the way it ended...I wanted to be sure that the little one was definitely OK. I love how she told the story from 2 different perspectives...and that I got to be tangled up in all that happened to Nicholas and Paige. What a fantastic story teller. Again the book is not my normal sort of genre, but I really did enjoy it the 2nd time around.
I'm loving what I'm getting out of this book club...different genre's that I normally wouldn't look twice at...even my own choice of book is not what I would normally read.
